What’s in Insights?
The Insights screen gives you a data-driven view of your finances. Open it from the sidebar (iPad/Mac) or the tab bar (iPhone) to see:
- Monthly spending trends over the past 12 months
- A 2-month spending projection based on your bill schedule
- A category breakdown showing where your money goes
- AI-powered recommendations (when Apple Intelligence is enabled)
- Anomaly detection for unusual charges
Monthly Spending Chart
The trend chart plots your total bill spend for each of the last 12 months as a bar or line chart. Tap any month to see a tooltip with the exact total.
The two months to the right of today are projections — calculated from your upcoming scheduled bills, so you can plan ahead before statements arrive.
Category Breakdown
Below the trend chart, a breakdown shows how your spending splits across categories for the selected time period. This helps you answer questions like:
- “How much am I spending on subscriptions each month?”
- “Is Housing still my biggest expense?”
- “What’s driving the increase this month?”
Tap any category segment to drill into the individual bills that make it up.
Anomaly Detection
Kwilio Bills Pro scans your payment history for bills that are significantly higher or lower than their usual amount. Anomalies are flagged in the Insights view so you can investigate unexpected charges.
AI-Powered Insights (Apple Intelligence)
With Apple Intelligence enabled, the Insights screen surfaces three additional layers of analysis:
Spending Pattern Analysis
The AI reviews your payment history to identify patterns — recurring spikes, seasonal trends, and month-on-month changes — and summarises them in plain language.
Smart Recommendations
Based on your spending patterns, you’ll receive tailored recommendations such as:
- Bills you might be able to reduce or cancel
- Categories where your spending is trending upward
- Opportunities to consolidate services
Bill Predictions
The AI predicts what your bills are likely to cost in the coming months, even for variable-amount bills like utilities. Predictions are shown as shaded ranges on the trend chart.
To enable these features, go to Settings → Apple Intelligence and toggle it on.
Adjusting the Time Period
Use the period selector at the top of the Insights screen to zoom in or out:

Tips for Getting the Most from Insights
- Categorise everything — uncategorised bills show up as a single bucket that’s hard to analyse. Spend a few minutes assigning categories and your breakdown becomes much more useful.
- Mark payments promptly — Insights is only as accurate as your payment records. The sooner you mark bills paid, the more accurate the historical chart.
- Review the projections monthly — the 2-month forward projection updates every time you add, edit, or close a bill. Check it at the start of each month to spot any big upcoming expenses.
